Tulip Time!!!

Our beautiful little Dutch girl!

Cayla grabs her first tulip.

No hands!!!

What a lady!

Early May means Tulip Time for those of us living in Pella. You can love it or grumble about the crowds, but it ain't going away. Growing up here, Leah has many fond memories of these three days. She rattled off these four: wearing wooden shoes, marching in parades, being on the Tulip Court, and playing Spin-the-Bottle at somebody's house in junior high after a parade. She "claims" she doesn't remember the boy she kissed. Yeah, right.

My memories start with Central College my sophomore year, working the basketball stand and selling countless brats. Now I love watching the parades to find my students!

Of course, this Tulip Time is very special to us because it is Cayla's first Tulip Time! On Wednesday, she ran with Leah at the Klompen Classic, which we'll post about soon. But she also got to dress Cayla up in a beautiful dress we borrowed from Wade and Hillary Van Vark (Wade is my assistant coach for those not in Pella). Then Leah took Cayla out for some pictures with the tulips. She snapped some good pictures with a little help from Gramma Jill and Grampa Tim. Cayla was a little tired, but did manage to break a tulip. Oops!

We'll put up some more pictures soon!

1. What on earth? now people are trying to leave ads on people blog comments - that stinks!

2. Aww, you put the pic of me & my angel on the side :) hee hee thanks! Please send me that pic!

3. I liked your synopsis of Tulip Time through each of your eyes. Thanks for your comment on mine, too.

4. (and most importantly) Cayla looks sweeter than a poffertje in that costume! :)

Happy Tulip Time!
Love,
Rainey

Isn't breaking a tulip in Pella a criminal offense?

Love your blog! Cayla is so darling, although I thought messing with the tulips in Pella was punishable by death :) What a fun way to stay caught up with you guys.

Brandon's mom keeps hoping we'll make it to Pella for TT so she can dress her mostly Dutch grandson in a costume as well - maybe next year.

Hope all is well there.
