little miss personality

First, the picture. Can we get you to buy that we just haven't taken our tree down yet? Okay, okay, so it's an old picture. But we think it's cute and we haven't posted it yet, so here she is, a few months ago, loving life.

Well, Cayla Joy is turning into quite the handful lately. Some nights she is absolutely crazy and can't seem to sit still. Tonight was a fun night. The following is a rough timeline of the events that occurred at our house.

6:25 pm: Cayla rushes into the living room after eating her fair share of Mama's spaghetti, which left her with a nice little hobo spaghetti sauce beard!

6:26 pm: Opens a book and sits down to read it. Begins reading (babbling) with flair and emotion. It must be really exciting.

6:30 pm: Folds up book. Throws it to the side. Stands up and heads to the toys.

6:31 pm: Looks around a bit. Doesn't see what she wants. Moves on.

6:35 pm: Finds "Baby" on the floor. Picks her up and pulls her close. Continues to hold her, occasionally patting her sweetly. Leah remarks, "She's so good with that baby!"

6:36 pm: Cayla flings Baby away from her viciously. She doesn't seem apologetic toward Baby. Leah looks at Jerod, shrugs and says, "Well, she was good with that baby."

6:40 pm: Cayla decided to go into "spin cycle," which is really just like it sounds. She stands up and starts taking little steps that spin her around. From time to time she'll glance at us with a smile to make sure we're watching. Inevitably, she ends up falling down.

6:41 pm: Get up. Repeat.

6:42 pm: Get up. Repeat.

6:43 pm: Gets bored. Climbs up to sit on the couch with us.

6:44 pm: Gets bored with us. Gets down and walks out of the living room.

6:47 pm: We hear noises coming from the stairwell. Cayla is taking part in one of her favorite solo pastimes: chucking our shoes down the steps to the basement.

And so on and so on. Cayla has been so much fun now that an ear infection or virus isn't slowing her down. She still gets frustrated when things don't go her way. And yes, she can be quite stubborn, but it's hard to imagine loving a child more than we love her. We hope this coming transition to sharing Mom and Dad isn't too hard on her!
