cayla's first halloween

As Halloween approached, we knew Cayla had some hefty shoes to fill. After all, her Mom once won $1000 with two other friends for their "Roller Coaster Girls" costume. It's true--I've seen the pictures and they looked amazing. The three girls were basically standing in a cardboard box--complete with fake legs dangling over the front of the box--that was decorated to look like a roller coaster. And Cayla's Dad once dressed as "The Microwave Man." I was there for that. And it wasn't amazing. Consider yourself spared of the details.

Anyway, we decided to alleviate the pressure from her and not get her an outfit. Leah spent 50 cents on a little shirt that said "I Love Mummy!" and Naomi and family got her some "Hokus Pocus!" socks. But on Halloween morning, a surprise package arrived in the mail from Leah's wonderful former supervisor in North Carolina. It was an adorable Halloween pumpkin outfit! Bright orange pants, orange booties, and a choice of two cute shirts. Cayla was to make her first appearance at Pella Middle School in just an hour, so Leah rushed downstairs to wash the outfit. Though it was still a bit damp when the girls left for the school, the sight was well worth it!

Here is a picture we took later. Cayla wanted to sit up on the pumpkin for this one. Check out the sweet pants!
