a day in the life of cayla joy

Sorry for the delay, faithful readers! We promise (fingers crossed!) to never go two weeks between posts ever again! At least not this year. In our world, basketball started for me, so things have gotten quite a bit busier. Leah started working again almost two weeks ago and is loving it. Thankfully, she is able to do quite a bit of work from home and gets to stay with Cayla most of the week. CJ started daycare last week, going across the street to Miss Amanda's house. Yes, it was hard for Mom to leave without her, but it helps knowing she is well taken care of!

As for Cayla, well, we thought we'd let her tell you about a typical day! CJ, take it away!

Thanks, Daddy, and hi, everybody! Okay, I'll start at the beginning! A few weeks ago I used to get up during the night to see if I could get some more grub. But you know, I got a little sick of that, so I just decided to sleep all the way through. It seems to make all of us a little happier and Dad doesn't complain about Mom falling asleep at 8:30 anymore. But I knew if I was going to go easy on them, I should get a little something in return, ya know? So here's a picture of me in my new bed! Sweet, huh?? Plenty of room to spread out!

After Dad heads in to work (he's been going to work later since I came around!), it's just me and Mom for a while. She is usually working hard, so it's up to me to take care of things around the house. Dishes? I got your Cascade for ya. Dusting? They call me "Pledge" Garland. Clothes? All over that, too. Check out this picture of me after I finished folding another load.

I don't like being cooped up at 121 E. 12th all day long. I like to get outside some. In fact, today Mom took me on a trip to Hy-Vee. It was a tad bit chilly so they bundled me up in a big pink winter coat. It must have been funny, because they laughed at me and took a picture. I'm not sure why they were laughing. Hey, don't worry about me guys, I'm just along for the ride.

And of course, I have to admit they also make me smile, too. Whether it's silly songs, goofy faces, or just their own smiles, I can't help but return a few grins. And while I am really good at knowing exactly when to stop just before the picture is taken, sometimes they'll snap a partial smile like in this one.

Okay, now for some quick things. I have an appointment at the swing and I might be wet.

*I guess sometimes I confuse Mommy. She often asks Daddy, "Was that you or her?"
*I don't know what "beautiful" means, but they call me that a lot.
*They like to close their eyes and say prayers over me--I like that!

That's all for now. Come see me!!!
