1. Cayla can now rip off almost all of her bibs if she feels like it. It's almost like Hulk Hogan ripping off that wimpy little yellow shirt he had with all the pre-cut holes that made it easier. She reaches down and grabs the bib and then pulls it hard. Usually it comes off on the first try. Then she flexes and slams it down. Okay, that last part isn't true. But it is pretty cool to see.
2. Cayla gave me a look today that I've never seen before. We are trying meats now and it's going pretty well. She loved the Turkey and Sweet Potatoes the other day. Today I tried straight turkey. Actually, it's called Turkey & Turkey Gravy. So I give her the first bite and right away she makes a face that makes it clear she didn't enjoy it. She sucked it down like a good girl, though. As I got the next spoonful ready and held it in front of her, it was then she realized I had a whole bunch of it for her and her options were limited. She looked up at me with an expression that said, "Really. This is the best stuff you got for me? Turkey & Turkey Gravy? And you feel okay about feeding me this? (sigh) Okay. Shove it in. But I'm not happy about this." The look made me smile and she really didn't enjoy the T & TG very much but did finish it.
3. Cayla has been raising her eyebrows quite a bit lately, too. We think it means she's excited and Leah thinks she is trying to tell us a story. Some day she'll be able to tell us all kinds of fun things and we can't wait.
4. Had a check-up today. She's almost 17 pounds and 16.5 inches now. Definitely growing. Her height and weight place her in the 21st percentile on non-adjusted charts. Children with Down syndrome are usually smaller, so there is a separate "adjusted" chart that compares them only with other kids with Downs. Her adjusted chart puts her in the 60th percentile for weight and 75th for length.
5. Gross poops from new solid foods. Enough said.

I love her smile in this picture. That looks like true joy! What amazing feats-she has been busy lately, I see. Give her kisses from Aunt Codi.
