spaghetti and 5 o'clock shadows

Call it an experiment in noodle-grabbing.

We normally don't encourage Cayla to get messy while she eats. But the other day Leah decided to throw cleanliness out the window. She put some spaghetti noodles down in front of Cayla and hoped for the best. She's had spaghetti before, but only from one of us feeding her. It had never been on her tray.

Thankfully, Cayla has a one-track mind when it comes to sitting in her high chair. View white tray. Grab items on white tray. Insert items on white tray into mouth. Chew while scanning white tray for more items. Grab more. Insert more. Chew. Breathe if necessary.

As expected, Cayla made quite the mess of the noodles. She grabbed them in big handfuls and crammed in as many as she could. Some made it into her mouth. Others didn't. Some noodles ended up hanging out of her mouth for a while, dangling there awkwardly. Cayla would try to slurp them in but didn't quite have the hang of that yet.

In the end, the spaghetti sauce on her face gave her a nice orange 5 o'clock shadow. If Halloween would have been that night, she would've gone as a Hobo and we would've saved money on a costume.
