growing girl

Her fingernails are pink.

I swear it's true. I went in to check on her during her nap. She had gotten down from her bed and moved to the mattress we pull out in case she falls down. She was laying on her stomach, head turned toward me, while sucking on two fingers. Just like always, the pointer and middle finger of her right hand. Classic Cayla. Her patented sleep preference.

And as I looked down at her face, I noticed the pink nails of her other fingers. Now, I wasn't unaware that her nails had been painted last Wednesday. I guess I just didn't think about it too much at the time. And now, for some reason it made me think about her growing up so fast. Man! Her fingernails (and toenails, for that matter) are bright pink!

It looks really cute and kind of represents her personality lately. Cayla has been full of energy this week. Last weekend, she caught a virus. Not pretty. Like throw-away-pajamas-cuz-there's-no-way-we're-attempting-to-clean-that not pretty. Rough weekend. She didn't eat much, was lethargic, and overall pretty much miserable.

But since she turned the corner a few days ago, it has been hurricane Cayla. She's doing everything big. Appetite? Check. She's said "mo, mo, mo" so much it's hard to keep up with the demand. That's her "more" by the way.

Dancing? She's been tearing up the kitchen floor lately. Cayla's got the "spin-around" move perfected. This usually ends with her plopping on the floor after a few revolutions. The "hoe-down" is also fun. She basically picks a leg and keeps stomping it up and down for a while. The "random-hand-motion" is a crowd pleaser. You never know what her hands are going to do. Pretty funny stuff.

Leah is ready to give birth. She's been feeling less and less comfortable the last couple of weeks. The baby is very active. I can't believe Leah can fall asleep with all of that going on in there. We're struggling to settle on names. The great thing is that Cayla has transitioned well to her bed and new room. Now, transitioning to not being the center of attention will be another matter. I don't predict that's going to go as well!

Too sweet! And yep, she does so many laugh-out-loud things lately. I swear she knows what makes people laugh. Like when I asked her who was going to pick up the mess on her bedroom floor, and she put her index finger on her bottom lip tapping it gently and said, "Hmmmm."

Thanks for the update! We all love hearing about the new things Cayla is doing, and of course wish we were there to see for ourselves:) Hope to see you sometime soon! Love you all.
